Super Mario Galaxy

Mario Wiki Platform: Wii
Log
On my previous blog post, I mentioned that I was starting to play Middle-Earth: Shadows of War but that quickly got put down due to the game-loop feeling repetitive to me. Sometimes the story is interesting enough to push through but I wasn't feeling invested in the story. I did not enjoy the mechanics enough to focus on the gameplay. It will return back to my backlog of games I could play. In writing this post, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is currently being sold for $50 USD, which seems very high to me. Yikes!
I didn't feel a need to try to find a new game to play; that is until I felt curious about booting up my Wii console. I wanted to try Mario Galaxy again, inspired primarily by the new Super Mario Galaxy movie. The first time I played the game was right after I bought my new Wii from a retro game store but I ended up getting distracted by life and never picked it back up again.
While I was getting started, I was having a moderate amount of fun with the levels. I can finish a level within 5 - 10 minutes for the normal stages and then maybe 20 minutes for the more complex stages. I would say the experience was pretty average until I got to my first Bowser fight. The whole level was so much fun, especially due to the music that comes straight from Nintendo 64's Super Mario 64. The music is directly from the first Bowser level link. After defeating Bowser for the millionth time, I was hooked and completed the game within a week. It's re-inspired my love for these games and it's a casual way for me to relax due to the levels not being particularly difficult.
I enjoyed the experience in it's entirety and am looking forward to go see the new Super Mario Galaxy movie. :)
I was hoping that with the new Switch 2 release, we would have a similar Mario game at launch but unfortunately the Switch 2 release has seemed pretty lack luster to me; especially considering the price of the console being $500 and their games being $80 USD. I'm curious to try Donkey Kong: Bananza. It would be a clear decision for me if they had bundled the console and DK: Bananza but otherwise, it's a hard sell for me.
I might explore Super Mario Sunshine or just wait until another inspiration hits.
